Vientiane - Arrival

In Vientiane you will be picked up around 2pm and take a short sightseeing to the highlights of the Lao capital including That Luang temple and Wat Sisaket monastery. Then, after 4pm, embark on your Mekong Cruise vessel, a comfortable new boutique-cruise ship with stylish cabins. Enjoy the spacious decks, lounge on board and welcome dinner with a selection of Asian and European food provided throughout the cruise. Spend your first night on board.

The Mekong

This second day you will start your spectacular river cruise upstream into formerly inaccessible parts of the Mekong River. Overnight on board.

The third day you will go on exciting offshore excursions and we will give you a program with profound travel information in form of presentations, speeches or documentaries on relevant topics which may be the daily life of a Buddhist novice or the plants and fruits of the Mekong region. Then pay a visit to a small riverside community to get acquainted with the life of the local Lao Lum minority. Overnight on board.

Pak Lay

Travel further north you will discover some of the most remarkable, impressive landscapes of this still-untamed river: hills covered with tropical vegetation, awe-inspiring rock formation along the river banks and a fascinating array of fast currents and slower river parts. The power of the mighty Mekong will give you the feeling of a real expedition. The 800-km journey will take you along the fantastic river landscapes, passing by aboriginal villages and reaching the World Heritage Sites. You will also have chance to explore some of the last unknown regions of South East Asia. Continue to upstream you will stop at a small riverside community of Pak Lai known for possessing many colonial buildings and a local market with a lot of exotic offerings. Enjoy the comfort on board near the Thai-Laotian border at night.

Tha Deua

After breakfast on board, let’s enjoy the beautiful view and watch local fishermen along the shore. Travel further into the Mekong river, you will see nature’s wonders along the riverbank and meet people of the small village of Hua Hip which is supported by the Mekong Cruise fleet. Later you will see the Mekong ferry crossing at Tha Deua which connects Luang Prabang with the Sayaboury province. Overnight aboard your Mekong river vessel.

Kuang Si – Luang Prabang

Keep the shore excursion to Kuang Si falls, some of the most attractive waterfalls in Laos. In the afternoon, you will visit Luang Prabang-the former royal capital of Laos, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with numerous temples and the atmosphere enriched by neighboring French colonial architecture. Then walk up Phou Si hill and take a sunset view over the Mekong and Khan rivers and the surrounding mountains. Spend the evening strolling along the Mekong or visit the colorful night market of the local Hmong minority. Overnight on board.

Luang Prabang

Luang Prabang – Pak Ou

In the early morning you can watch traditional alms-giving ceremony along the streets of Luang Prabang. Have breakfast on board. Then cruise north again and visit a Laotian village where you can observe the traditional production of Lao-Lao, the local liqueur. Later take a short walk through the jungle to explore the famous Pak Ou Caves, with thousands of small Buddha images inside the caverns. Spend the night on the river bank or sandbank.

Start head upstream towards Pak Tha. Today you will spend all day to relax on decks, in your comfortable cabins or in the lounge and soak up the untouched scenery and astonishing landscapes. Move to tropical hills in the background and enjoy the tranquility of northern Laos, a real retreat without the hustle and bustle of daily life as cruising along the green hills. Overnight on board.

Pak Tha – Huay Xay/ Chiang Khong

At Pak Tha, a small village, you will take off on a long-tail boat excursion on the Namtha River to visit a Khmu village which is supported by guests of the Mekong cruise fleet. Later reboard to the Thai-Laotian border at Chiang Khong (Thailand) and Ban Huay Xay (Laos). Spend a last relaxing dinner and evening on board.

The Golden Triangle

  Visit the Golden Buddha of Sop Ruak and old temples remains at Chiang Saen, check-out

After breakfast take an excursion to the Golden Triangle area at Chiang Saen where you can pay a visit to the Golden Buddha of Sop Ruak and the old temple remains of the town. Chiang Saen used to serve as the crowing location for the kings of Lanna or Chiang Mai and history is well preserved here. In the afternoon say goodbye to us and check-out.
